Scherzando Strings, Shropshire’s only professional orchestra, presents a programme of music written for String Orchestra from the 18th to 20th Centuries. The major work will be Dvorak’s wonderful Serenade for Strings, in 5 movements.

Scherzando Strings continues their tradition of performing a Vivaldi Concerto with soloists from the orchestra, playing the lively Concerto for 4 violins in B minor. Soloists: Sue Harris-Cohen, David Joyce, Alison Loram, Jayne Robinson.

The programme is completed with music by English composers, including the popular Capriol Suite by Warlock, an early arrangement of folk songs by John Rutter, Delius little known gem, 2 Aquarelles arranged for Strings. The concert starts with a short symphony by William Boyce.

The programme will be introduced by the conductor, musicologist and author Maurice Powell making the concert an enjoyable and informative event.
